幾乎不的翻譯

英語中很多副詞都是形容詞加字尾 -ly 變成副詞的，如 slowly，sadly，loudly，happily，quietly 等，但是有些副詞不是從對應的形容詞加字尾 -ly 變成的，最典型的是 hardly，它常與 ever 連用；hard 既可以作形容詞，也可以作副詞，作副詞時，與 hardly 的意思不一樣。

一、hardly

hardly 是程度副詞，它有否定的意思，意為”幾乎不，幾乎沒有“，尤用於 can或 could 之後，主要動詞之前，強調做某事很難，例如：

We hardly know each other。

我們彼此還不大認識。

I could hardly believe it when I read the letter。

讀到那封信時，我簡直不敢相信。

I can hardly keep my eyes open。

我困得都快睜不開眼了。

I can hardly wait to see him again。

我迫不及待地想再次見到他。

二、與 hardly 相關的搭配

1. hardly 最常見的搭配是 hardly ever。其實除了這個搭配以外，hardly 還經常與 any 及其組合詞連用，如 anyone，anybody 和 anything；但 hardly 不與 no，none，no one，nobody，nothing 或 never 等表示否定意思的連用。

hardly ever：

We used to go visit grandma and grandpa every year when I was a kid， but nowadays I hardly ever see them。

小時候我們每年都去看望爺爺奶奶，但現在我幾乎看不到他們了。

I hardly ever get the chance to go out to the movies alone

since

having kids。

hardly any/anyone， anybody， anything

2. hardly … at all

有時我們可以在動詞、形容詞或緊跟 hardly 後面的名詞後面加 at all 來表示強調，例如：

I hardly slept at all last night。

我昨晚幾乎沒睡。

He’s hardly slept at all this week。

這星期他幾乎沒睡什麼覺。

三、hardly 的位置

hardly 單獨使用時，一般置於主語和實義動詞之間，情態動詞、助動詞或 be 動詞之後，例如：

1。 主語和實義動詞之間，例如：

He hardly needed to break sweat to reach the final。

他幾乎不費勁兒就取得了決賽權。

2。 情態動詞、助動詞或 be 動詞之後，例如：

I can hardly wait。

我等不及了。

My piano lesson is on Monday， and I’ve hardly played it this week。

我的鋼琴課是在星期一，這星期我幾乎沒彈過。

There were hardly any tourists。

幾乎沒有遊客。

3。 當 hardly 要麼修飾實義動詞，要麼修飾實義動詞後的名詞或短語，那麼 hardly 既可以放在實義動詞之前，也可以放在之後，例如：

她幾乎沒有睡覺。

✔： She hardly had any sleep。

✔： She had hardly any sleep。

四、hardly 的倒裝

1. 跟其他有否定意義的單詞一樣，hardly 置於句首時，句子要部分倒裝，例如：

Hardly does she have time to listen to music。

他幾乎沒時間聽音樂。

Hardly had we arrived than the problems started。

我們剛到，問題就來了。

2. 在更正式的場合中，當談及一件事情緊接著另一件事情發生時，用 hardly … when，其中 hardly 置於句首，句子用部分倒裝，相當於 scarcely … when，例如：

Hardly had I got into bed when the telephone rang。

我剛上床睡覺電話就響了。

Hardly had I arrived there when I was called back to the head office 100 miles away。

我剛到那裡就被召回100英里外的總部。

Hardly had my friend asked the question when he got the correct answer。

我的朋友一問這個問題就得到了正確的答案。
