picture 和 photo 都有圖片的意思，但它們的區別大的很。

一、picture 可以作名詞，也可以作動詞

1、picture 作名詞，表示以繪畫、油畫或攝影的形式表現出來的視覺，也可以是一個影象，意為”圖畫；繪畫；相片；照片；電檢視像“，例如：

The little boy wanted to paint the picture of his mother。

小男孩想畫他母親的畫。

My friend is so fond of cats that she draws the picture of a cat。

我的朋友非常喜歡貓，她畫了一隻貓的圖畫。

My younger sister painted a beautiful picture of the scenery。

我妹妹畫了一幅美麗的風景畫。

2、picture 作動詞，表示以繪畫或攝影的形式來展示，意為”顯示在照片上;用圖片顯示“等，例如：

The girl is pictured with lambs in the painting。

女孩和羔羊被畫在一起。

She tried to picture his reaction。

她試圖想象他的反應。

二、photograph 縮寫為 photo，可以作名詞，在非正式場合也可以作動詞，但現在 photo 被普遍使用。photo 作名詞時，表示用相機拍出來的影象，意為”照片，相片“，例如：

My younger sister direly wanted to take a photo with her favorite singer。

我妹妹非常想和她最喜歡的歌手合影。

Please send me the photos of the sites which you are visiting。

請把你正在訪問的網站的照片發給我。

I don’t like to post my photos on Instagram or Facebook。

我不喜歡在Instagram或Facebook上釋出我的照片。

You can edit your photo by the use of photoshop software。

三、兩者的區別

1、所有的 photos 都可以是 pictures，但是所有的 pictures 不是 photos.

2、picture 是所有以繪畫，油畫或攝影的形式表現出來的視覺或是一張影象，而 photo 是藉助相機出來的照片。

3、製作一張 picture 需要花很多時間，但是相機拍一張 photo 需要的時間很短。

4、picture 的縮寫形式是 pic，而 photo 是 photograph 的縮寫。

5、作為動詞的 picture 表示以繪畫或攝影的形式來展示情景或場面，而 photo 只在不正式的場合中作為動詞，意為”拍照“。
